As the holiday season draws near please consider saving those turkey bones (chicken bones, duck bones, goose bones, whatever) for the dermestid colony. For those of you who have not yet been at [redacted] for a year, this is my annual solicitation for carcasses that we use during hard times to sustain the dermestid colony. If you make soup or otherwise remove all flesh from the bones kindly discard them afterward, they offer no food value to the colony members. Your assistance is appreciated. The remains are frozen until needed, mostly during field season, when time is limited to prepare research specimens for the colony to clean.

The time of year has arrived for me to once again ask for your assistance. If over the holidays (or any other time for that matter) you have skeletal left-overs in the way of turkey, duck, goose, ham, etc. that have 'meat' on the bones, please consider bringing them in the Museum for the dermestid colony. We do use these at times when we don't have time to prepare animals from the freezers, especially during the summer field season. You can deliver them to me at my office or to [redacted] or me in the Collections Room, but please don't leave them anywhere without letting one of us know of their existence. Meanwhile in my state in the US voter suppression is so bad that the queue for EARLY voting was so long that people were lining up on the shoulder of a highway exit ramp. In Ohio, we are legally allowed just one in-person early voting location per county. My county has almost 900k registered voters.
