What I find puzzling through all of this post-Covid inflation story is the narrative that inflation is positive for the currency. I get that it leads to higher nominal rates.

But, shouldn't it be the real rates that count? They are probably moving lower in the US one way or another.

Same here. And I read that 10+ years ago.

But what if there just aren't any consequences and if at all just for a few scapegoats? Life may simply not be fair and the imoral behaviour is perhaps not punished for most in the end. That's the real tragedy of our time.

Yes but what about the citizens of a country? A strong currency is also a factor in the standard of living, low inflation, etc. So there has to be a balance of interests.

It's just counterintuitive given the related text as you would expect to see US vs RoW and an upward sloping line.

Since it's RoW vs US the line goes down.

In 5 years, I have heard of no major company that has simply started to pay people more for showing up.

If they're so much more productive in the office, that should be a no brainer.

This is all you need to know about the apparent ineffectiveness of remote work.

Have we really if we still care so much about what's going on there?

I am not an economist, so forgive my ignorance, but isn't part of the problem that services are not captured in these statistics, but in fact do make up a sizeable part of trade and capital flows? I.e. money going the US Tech cos from subscriptions, advertising revenue etc.
