It's easier to believe that a world that is working for you (or are convinced is working for you despite you routinely clocking in 60-80 hours) is just (which is also enforced by mega churches) than to dare step out of line because then you might have to do something.

I live in a very red area of the US. There's a spectrum of types of Trump voters from the absolute ignorant (low information) and to the absolute malicious (proud bigots). To characterize them as fully one or the other, when there's so many motivations is limiting.

I was about to say what rich person cares about that? But then I remembered almost all of them have at least one bizarre cheapskate hill they'll die on.

the practical effect of arresting lemon et al is to spark widespread condemnation, especially since these arrests will certainly be thrown out. this doesn't mean the action isn't a dangerous escalation, it does mean the white house doesn't know what to do but spam its only attack

This may be controversial, but I don't care if they're just doing it to save their face/skin right now if it gives us the numbers we need to improve the situation.

I've never seen a population more united. If people can hold onto that unity, if people can accept that different people will have different ways of confronting fascism, if we can remind NGOs and orgs that they can join but not control the resistance, then, well, people here will write history.

When I was listening to this today and got to the part where you mentioned it would be difficult to make a good movie out of this, I thought it would only work if you did it from the narrow POV of one person juxtaposed with scenes of other groups. The narrative of one individual and then the whole.

I genuinely feel like I'm going insane every time I hear someone trying to justify any of this. Like do we exist in the same reality? Are we really seeing the same images and you're takeaway isn't "this is pure evil"?
