One of my favourite moments in my teaching career was doing Lady Macbeth, Act 1 scene 5 and hearing a student say ‘she’s not even looking at the words…she’s not even reading it, she’s just saying it!’

We had merits given in KS3, which I loved getting, but my motivation to do well was to learn and get the best grades. I hated the thought of ‘failing’ anything.

We have ‘teacher as expert reader’ as a HIP at my school and I’ve found it transformative in students’ understanding of texts. It’s far more enabling, particularly in a mixed ability classroom.

I haven’t listened yet (I will do) but I definitely agree that it’s not kids who need to watch it, and many would definitely make fun of it!

I’ve had absolutely incredible support from Chris from afar during my career! Have met him twice, but online he’s always been so incredibly generous with his time and expertise!

I didn’t think I was particularly enjoying it, but I suppose you’re not meant to ‘enjoy’ dystopia! But I really felt very emotional in the last few chapters!

I managed the whole of last term with no calls from nursery - now youngest is sick this week 🤦♀️ it’s been one of them every holiday this academic year 😢
