11 years ago today I hunted Cat-5 Super #Typhoon #HAIYAN in the #Philippines —one of the strongest landfalling cyclones in history. A cataclysmic storm surge swept Tacloban City like a tsunami. Our hotel went underwater & I jumped into the surge to drag people out. The aftermath: thousands dead.

Behold Super #Typhoon #KONGREY. Truly spectacular specimen with hypnotic, Cyclopean eye. I definitely want to get inside that. Nature's art. Right now I'm out over Pacific. Gonna land in #Taiwan in 5 hours. Then the hunt begins. My 10 chase (& 9th hurricane) of 2024 could be especially dangerous.
