Communication and Reporting Officer for a small nonprofit you've never heard of. M. Div from a seminary you regrettably might have. Husband to a poet. Father to an adorable toddler. Bookish, but not as much as I would like to be. Jesus follower.
Weird coincidence.

Were you exposed to Screwtape letters early enough that an adult thought military language might make more sense to you than bureaucracy language?

cover over the differences that would make such a broad composition incoherent in the first place. It's a worthwhile read for any American Christian or anyone who wants to understand us.

For Christians, it is an invitation to chart a new course of faithful engagement and obedience to the Bible.

So, yes

I think it's a but disingenuous for him to say that Obama had no coherent beliefs aside from US guilt. Obama ordered the association of Bin Laden and oversaw the massive expansion of drone warfare. It seems to me like he fits well into the mold of US empire-advancing presidents.

It has me thinking about Romans 13. A government that isn't a terror to the evil conduct of consigning others to needless medical deaths and despair might do poorly at being a terror to those who want vengeance for those deaths.

This fills me with a tremendous amount of "yikes". It makes sense of a lot of little weird details I've gleaned from the small number of Medieval texts I've interacted with.

If this was the basis of Christendom, it does really negatively reframe the ambition many seem to have of recovering it.

I have a few notions of my own after meditating on John 16:1-15 and other "Spirit of God" passages, but I want to engage more substantially with what the church has discovered over time beyond my own wrestlings.

I had a friend once visit a Bible study. The friend, a skeptic who grew up in a fundamentalist cult, asked about the Holy Spirit and was less than satisfied by the answers that reduced the Spirit to mere conscience. This has left that topic as a frequent shower thought.

This couldn't be truer. And I'll take the opportunity to plug John Mark Comer's Practicing the Way as a wonderful guide for Christians trying to orient themselves quickly to a potentially unfamiliar space of faith being about practices of following instead of beliefs. A really invaluable guide.

I am less bothered by this reality being deeply prevalent in the church (though I am very bothered) than by its possibility of being true about myself. Am I posturing in ways that I understand to be pious? Or am I really growing in the knowledge, love, and grace of Jesus?

-Any video I watched enough to count as a view more than once (there wouldn't be many).
-The channels I spent the most time on (obvs)
-The videos that I watched that other people who watched a lot of videos I watched didn't

Is that a very old copy or is that cover design just very beautiful?
