started rewatching True Detective Season 1. you might think that it’s lost some of its appeal to me, now that I’m no longer a teenager and have seen dozens of narratives about tortured detectives. but it’s still electrifying television, fronted by one of the very best performances in the medium

update from a month ago on my Football Manager experiment, playing without full-backs or wing-backs is suicidal, many goals were conceded. however, playing with just one centre-back, two full-backs and a shit-ton of attackers has got me to a Champions League final so I’d recommend giving that a spin

having a real rough time on Twitter at the moment, so think I’m going to try and use this more regularly. just can’t deal with the constant negativity over there, and I feel myself becoming more negative in the process (not just because of Twitter but it’s not helping)

Lord of the Rings is still one of those mythical trilogies that makes you believe that all big-budget adaptations could be as well-crafted, emotional and rewatchable. even with Jackson’s disastrous Hobbit trilogy following it, I still feel a sense of true hope for blockbusters while watching them

feel like I’ll get used to this place when (if?) DMs become a thing. really just wanna have conversations that aren’t public with my friends, and social media can sometimes be easier for doing that than texting or WhatsApp. main thing keeping me on Twitter is DM conversations and group chats

adored Past Lives. think there’s a big disconnect between me and people that find this utterly heartbreaking though. I find it so moving that people are capable of having those connections that don’t last their whole lives, not defeating or devastating. makes me think of my own kinds

one of the great things about seeing A Matter of Life and Death is realising just how much art was inspired by it, how many works of brilliance it helped create through its sheer majesty and imagination. can’t imagine that something like Angels in America would have existed without it
Watched A Matter of Life and Death for the first time and as with every Powell and Pressburger film, I was just immediately stunned by how modern, gorgeous and urgent it is. Couldn’t help but get choked up at Peter and June’s meeting over the radio in the beginning. Can’t believe this exists
