Nice to hear about systems like the Te Kuru stormwater facility that do help counter flooding since we're experiencing more intense storms. Ōtautahi Christchurch had around 140 mm of flooding over 2.5 days with lots of flooding throughout the city.

Paper by Mitchell Anderson, which I contributed to, published about the concept "functional isolation", related to isolation (when you cannot access a facility) and cascading failures (when there are indirect loss of utilities).

This is a good start! Hopefully other regions will be able to get bikes back on busses soon too.

Lovely day on New Regent Street. Even had a surprise food stall with delicious smelling food and wood fired grill. Such a great pedestrian zone in Christchurch!

Good to see some update from the bike rack ban on busses (though unfortunate that a partial obscuring of headlights has led to a complete ban). Also nice that there is a temporary option for those in Lyttelton to get through the tunnel.
Spokes has been keeping in touch with ECan about the work to resolve the issues leading to the bike rack ban. They have now provided an update. The issue is not sorted yet, but at least we know work is being done to find solutions and fix it. We are still very concerned at how long it is taking.

ABC, NBC & CBS dedicated about 16 minutes of airtime last night to the California wildfires without once mentioning climate change.

Since the news failed do it's job, here's a short summary of the role of climate change and wildfire risk:

Great improvement for #cycling in #Christchurch. At Armagh and Montreal heading to Hagley Park. It used to be an obstacle course to either weave between the two bollards or ride up the sloping kerb, but now it's a flat, smooth lane! #cyclechch

Well this is a depressing read. I knew RFK was an antivaxer. I hadn't realised he visited Samoa specifically to spread antivax disinformation months before the epidemic that needlessly claimed the lives of 83 babies and children 😡
