TILEMAP COLLISIONS ARE A SUCCESS.

What you're seeing:
Tiles are made solid at random for testing.
Big Square is being controlled by the DPAD
Tiny dots are polling positions (think raycasts)
Squares are the tiles being polled for collisions.

I'm back at it, folks! This time I'm working on creating a tile collision system. This is more of a consciousness dump for what I'm setting up to work on.

Playing with figuring out how to implement a Tilemap collider on playdate.

Holding the data in a string is memory efficient (by about 10x) but is 4x slower to look up since strings aren't indexed.

Working on the colliders for Boulder Mage PD, I wanted to make sure I'm using roughly the right sized circle

I took a screenshot from Celeste, and scaled it to a 400x240 to see, roughly, how big boulder mage should be.

To my delight, I don't think I have to scale anything, just redraw in 1 bit.
