Every time I come to Melbourne from a foreign city with actually good public transit, especially with good airport connections, I am reminded of how absolutely shit taxis are. I do not enjoy terrible music and dangerous driving at inflated prices, and SkyBus is an overpriced mess.

Education for the love of learning and knowledge is a wonderful thing and I pity people who don’t experience it.

It’s really absurd that we’ve reached a point where the “common sense” view of education is that its primary purpose is to lower the future onboarding/training costs for companies hiring new employees.

Education for the love of learning and knowledge is a wonderful thing and I pity people who don’t experience it.
Travelling through shrines in Kamakura, and I am amazed at how much the smartphone has screwed with people’s capacity to be chill in zen spaces.

It’s pretty clear that the US has just sleepwalked into an authoritarian fascist regime with zero resistance. If an SS-impersonating ICE agent can just pick you up and ship you to El Salvador, nobody should travel to the US and countries need to immediately raise Do Not Travel warnings.
One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind.
An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one."

OK, taking bets on how long it’ll be before we start seeing #dnd product releases that feature character options we didn’t already have pre-2024 refresh? So far, we’ve got Forgotten Realms and Eberron - not looking promising.

Great thread! Took me a hot minute to think of my biggest pet peeve, but it’s books that communicate rules information only with words. TTRPG books can have visual, magazine layouts - they’re not Word doc manuscripts with a bunch of art. Gimme diagrams!
