Out of 2,000 candidates, only 315 passed the written exam. I ranked 9th by raw score and 64th overall, securing my civil servant position. Proud of my incredible achievement despite the lack of merits which was weighing me down. I’m so excited to start my journey in Secondary Education in Madrid!📍

Researching this topic felt like opening Pandora’s box—I’ve only scratched the surface of this deep scar on Éire’s history which, in a way, also represents the history of the Western world and all generations of women in it. Now, I’m working to turn my thesis into articles. Stay tuned! 👀

My thesis, “Trauma and Resilience through the Decades”, explores how art reflects the legacy of Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries. Through a documentary, poetry, and a novella I examine how these works contrast state narratives and amplify silenced voices and shed light on female atavistic trauma.

The monograph was a material result of the "VI Linguistics and Literature International Congress" organised by University of Cantabria in October 2022. I presented two papers then (one on The Handmaid's Tale and one on EFL Teaching) but only the latter made it into the book. 👨‍🏫

During my MEd studies, I became a postgraduate fellow at the @uam.es thanks to a collaboration scholarship I was awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education. There, I created two textbooks centred on non-bilingual education, original literature, and intercultural communication (ICC).

In 2022, my article "The Turn of the Adaptation: Henry James, Daphne du Maurier and Netflix" was published at @jaclrinfo.bsky.social. In it I dwell on adaptation theories applied to "The Haunting of Bly Manor" and unearth a hidden subplot based on "Rebecca". www.ucm.es/siim/jaclr-v...
