It’s Intersex Awareness Day, and a great day to check out @lzreis23.bsky.social’s Bodies in Doubt: An American History of Intersex, which has been free to download since the Naval Academy removed it from their library. 🗃️ muse.jhu.edu/book/136490

I’ve been having a really hard time focusing on reading recently, for obvious reasons. But @kdcaseywrites.bsky.social delivered in Breakout Year. All her books are gems, but this one is really special.

And you gotta love a dedication that sticks it to the jerks.

Beautiful long weekend in the Finger Lakes welcoming a new person into our family. The best measure of a good wedding and family trip? How few photos I took.

The Corning Museum of Glass lives up to its incredible reputation. And we’re bringing a decorative gourd home with us.

R. F. Kuang’s Babel was, at its heart, a critique of imperialism and 19th-century academia’s role in it.

I’m about a quarter into her new novel, Katabasis, and it is a blistering takedown of academia *today*. Here are reasons people are in the pride section of hell:

Reading a book that is basically the Andor prison break as a whole romance novel, and I couldn’t be happier.

Oh my goodness, the @historians.org staff surprised me with a book cake! 😭

When I quit grad school and left academia, I assumed I would never publish a book. So The @nursingclio.bsky.social Reader is a literal dream come true. And now it gets to sit on my shelf with other publications that I have shepherded as an editor. www.rutgersuniversitypress.org/the-nursing-...

Happy Friday!

Have you preordered The @nursingclio.bsky.social Reader yet? There are only 4 days left until publication day, and an order just isn’t as cool as a preorder. (JK, we’ll take preorders, orders, or any other way you want to get a copy!)

It’s my birthday, so I made it an extra-long holiday weekend. My spouse bought flowers for me at the farmers market and cooked an incredible dinner. I stayed mostly offline and enjoyed myself thoroughly. 🎈

Headed to New York state this weekend for a family event and taking my last #AHAReads book with me.

To fulfill the task “Read an edited collection, journal forum, or other multiauthor work,” I’ll be reading the @dig-history.bsky.social historians dig into Lily Dale, NY, and its 19th-c. history.

I was very brave in coming to the office today when DC is so crime-riddled. Just look at our lawless neighborhood.

24. Reread a childhood favorite book.

I loved Anne McCaffrey as a kid and decided to revisit The Rowan. It’s still great, and now I have reread the subsequent 4 books in the series...

Also, we really lost something when they stopped doing cover art like this. (Art by Romas)

Excited to read and then share with the other woman in my D&D group. (Our husbands are also welcome to read it, but I have realistic expectations.)

FINALLY went to the DC area’s new romance bookstore, Friends to Lovers in Old Town Alexandria. It was a wonderland. I had to be very strict with myself in limiting my purchases. #romancelandia

People have been talking about the Billy Joel documentary all over the place, yet no one prepared me for this completely badass look on Elizabeth Weber, his first wife/manager.

Though the image only mentions the Authors Guild, that suit has been combined with the lawsuit brought by @acls1919.bsky.social, @historians.org, and @modernlanguage.bsky.social.
