Writing is hard. Publishing is worse. This industry will grind you up in ways you cannot predict, partly because the grindstone changes shape every decade or so for reasons of money and attention.
But publishing is not the reason why we do this. It’s the apparatus, but it’s not the core.

This is why I tell self-pub authors to set
library purchase prices as low as the system will let you — it’s better than buying ads and one of the few ways indie authors can outcompete big publishers!
