The Canes is a new series of handmade #collages that extends my #sketchbook practice + deepens my exploration of the sugarcane field as a site of play, self-expression, freedom, + love. Begun in spring 2025, the series builds on visual + thematic ideas first introduced in my 2017 sketchbook.

Another bright light leaves us. Farewell to the inimitable Lorraine O’Grady, whose conceptual art practice still stuns for its boldness, singularity, and affective quality.

Was a pleasure to be interviewed by poet Anton Nimblett for Small Axe ahead of Leslie Lohman Museum’s “Plural of He” group exhibition this past March. Curated by @andilgosine.bsky.social, the show honored the queer Trinidadian activist Colin Robinson.

Two of my favorite collages I created in 2020, started at the beginning of the COVID pandemic.

I had just moved back from the Caribbean and was missing all of that beauty during lockdown amid the concrete of Tulsa.
