The Canes is a new series of handmade #collages that extends my #sketchbook practice + deepens my exploration of the sugarcane field as a site of play, self-expression, freedom, + love. Begun in spring 2025, the series builds on visual + thematic ideas first introduced in my 2017 sketchbook.

Delighted to have contributed #mixedmedia #collage artwork, “Moonlight: Respite of the Black Madonnas”, to the timely, stunning and jam-packed sixth issue of Hammer & Hope, especially this urgent climate conversation between Rhiana Gunn-Wright + Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò.

The Climate Movement Should Become a Human Movement
It needs to tap into our emotional life in ways that will link us to material struggles rather than distract us from them.

The exhibition “Nature’s Wild with Andil Gosine”, (@andilgosine.bsky.social) of which I’m proud to be a collaborating artist, uses visual art to explore connections between the environment, sexuality, and sexual justice. This cancellation hasn’t stalled our commitment to sharing this work.

As a participating artist in the now canceled “Nature’s Wild” exhibition at the Art Museum of the Americas, I’m deeply disappointed that the museum decided not to stand by its commitment to supporting artists it once warmly invited into its galleries to challenge the status quo.

Sonia Boyce’s interest in multi-sensory art and Black women artists is evident in her explosive show at the Art Gallery of Ontario, which evokes Afrofuturist and dance club aesthetics.
