We just finished our latest cetacean & sea turtle stranding survey of Senegal's north coast- in honor of #InternationalWomensDay it was the first time with an all female team! Unfortunately, we found a lot of carcasses...usually we don't find much in the winter months, so this was an exception.

Absolutely incredible! A member of our stranding network videoed a Mediterranean monk seal in Delta Saloum, central Senegal, ~1000 km south of the nearest colony (Cap Blanc, Mauritania). This is the first record of this species in Senegal since the 1960's! Huge thanks to Doudou Ba for reporting it!
