On At Issue, @acoyne.bsky.social says supply management is "magical thinking" that "has got to go."

Brother, supply management is a large part of why eggs in Canada are 75% cheaper than in the U.S. right now. If magical thinking is what keeps that industry resilient, I say keep the spells coming!

Lutnick: What if China routed goods through the island to skirt tariffs?

China: *crosses fingers nobody notices its huge shared border with Russia, which has no tariffs*
🇺🇸🐧 US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick:

"We had to include penguin island in the tariffs in case some countries try to use it as a loophole."

Are there really that many employers requiring doctors notes for sick time?

600k notes a year is very nearly one for every working person in MB every year.

Not to shame those who get sick and need one, but 600,000 feels like SO MANY

Any suggestions out there for a no-fee or low-fee credit card with decent cash back or other perks?

Neo dropped the base cashback on my card to 0% without warning, so now I have 0% interest in staying with them.

Listening to my copy of Bob Seger's Night Moves tonight just to discover it has developed a tiny scratch on the title track and now skips just before the chorus

I have never been edged this hard in my life

"The CFIA said it didn't visit any Loblaw stores during its investigation into the matter or issue any fines because the grocer reported it had fixed the problem."

Wow, glad to see our federal agencies really holding industry's feet to the fire.

Help me out, sports people:

I run a downtown bar. People often call and ask if we can put the game on. I rarely know what game they're talking about, but I say yes, of course. "Be right over," they say.

And nobody shows up. Ever.

Happened again today, except there wasn't even a game on.

Why?

Do police still not understand that video exists, and that most people have eyes and a brain?

I've seen the video. Even if the police side of the story is 100% true, at best there is a SIGNIFICANT gap (including a change of location) between the stabbing and the shooting.
Winnipeg police say an officer was stabbed in the neck while doing retail theft enforcement. Suspect was shot and killed by officers. IIU taking over investigation.

Most of my best-performing tweets were about A&W, including a mid-pandemic plea for them to introduce a quaran-teen burger
I have a game. What were you "known" for on Twitter?

I'll go first. I'm the woman who caused Dave Ramsey to mass-block Royals Twitter.

The City of Winnipeg has known this was coming for a long time. Every single sign has pointed to the urgent need for a replacement. And still, the official stance is: we will continue to study and see if we can revive this literally crumbling and dangerous bridge. No plan for replacement.
Arlington Bridge indefinitely closed

Tech giants: We want regulation!

Canada: *introduces regulations*

Tech giants: Not like that!!
Love when the tech giants hold my entire nation hostage just because the gov tried to regulate them.
