❤️ Manchester United Women + women's football. ❤️ cinema. (Trans 🏳️‍⚧️ she/her). Using this to escape the hellsite. All views are my own & don't represent those of others.
After a pretty shitty week it was great to end it with a beautiful first ❤️ story. I am thankful to live in Manc so I have access to films like this which are basically streaming only previously unless you live in London. A Flemish Belgium film that meant I could not stop smiling afterwards. #filmsky

Found this by accident, it is a really good tv series. It’s a shame you have to dig so deep to find it. One would hope female centric drama classily and clever would have been on a main channel. Tbh that is the point, I used to disagree with the parallels being then and now and I no longer do.

Can’t see why in 10 years we have fallen from the 1st place in Europe for LGBT equality to 22nd not that much higher than Russia can you? Don’t be as stupid as the telegraph thinks you are. #TransRightsAreHumanRights

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” (George Santayana). Separate but equal worked so well last time didn’t it. What makes people think it is the solution. We are getting punished due to a deranged subset of society who hate their own womanhood. #transwomenarewomen

2nd film of the day blew me away. It’s an excellent engaging, yes coming of age story but also a commentary on the fragility of life and life transitions. A directorial debut with superb performances from the lead Deba Hekmat and the rest of the cast. This is highest quality British cinema. #filmsky.

First of a double bill I gave myself at my favourite cinema. It has a lot of layers to it + is more than a Richard Burton biopic. Really strong performance by Harry Lawtey and Toby Jones who is one of the best character actors around atm. It’s a tough drama about adversity, family and class. #filmsky

Loved Parasite but this film awful and boarders on a spoof. I was so disappointed. They could have focused much more on the nature of end stage capitalism + been clever about it. But it was the same regen joke over + over again with the most 1 dimensional female characters Ive seen. Urgh. #filmsky.

Fun but ridiculously dated, a film that could have been released at the turn of the century but has a nostalgic warmth that reminds you of (better) movies from that time. I hope for true fans of the films (and the books) this is the last film now because your on the edge of spoiling its heritage.

Saw this last night, much subtler than a Ken loach film but produced by people that worked on a few. It gets a bit lost as it tries to highlight too many things. It does show however show hard it is to be poor and happy as well as the perilous existence of an ever increasing number of pp. #filmsky.

Sheadloads of film snobbery have given this a bad review. But as someone who was 13 in 2000 it was full of nostalgic memories and was just fun. Yes it’s looks cheap and low budget in parts but sometimes you want a cheap burger over a gourmet meal. Just take a mate (like I did) and enjoy it. #filmsky

Don’t get me wrong this is a good movie, bordering on great showing repressiveness of life in Iran particularly if your a woman. But the story of the directors arrest, fleeing to Europe as well as the risks the actors took reminds you of the importance of film and sacrifices taken for change. #filmsky

I finally saw this wed and it isn’t your standard romance film. The chemistry between Pugh and Garfield is really strong and is the main reason the film works. There is some funny bits but it isn’t a romcom. It’s a film about how life is precious and you should try and live in the moment. #filmsky

I knew nothing about Claressa Shields going into this but it looks like until recently she struggled to get the recognition she deserved due to lack of 💴.Ironically this film doesn’t work because it is too low budget. It feels like a tv movie from the turn of the century rather than 2025. #filmsky.

Urgh this movie. To enjoy this you need to see it as a live art exhibition rather than a film. Even an intermission it’s too long, pretentious + over the top but the film does work. I see it’s been nominated for load of Oscars but I’m not sure it films like this should be encouraged 😂. #filmsky

Saw this recently and was impressed. Considering we all know what happened to the hostages I’m not sure why I was so riveted by it, but I was. Also with just an over 90 mins runtime it was so great to watch a movie and not feel like it was an endurance. I wholeheartedly recommend this #filmsky.

I really enjoyed this. It is a horror with strong comedic elements and makes some great points re the patriarchy and the nature of violence against women, particularly cohesive control. Refreshingly surprisingly written and directed by a man it felt feminist and v relevant in 2025. #filmsky #review

Rather appropriately this was how I chose to spent my Saturday night. It is an actually very watchable comedy that I laughed out loud at quite a few times. Can imagine how much I would have liked it if I grew up with SNL.Not an awards film but defo worth a stream. #filmsky #review

Saw this Friday not really knowing much about Bob Dylan or being a fan I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this. It is a really well made biopic with very strong performances + a good pace allowing it to be a quality film faithful to the story but not boring or alienating for the average viewer. #filmsky

Saw this Fri, the film isn’t 50 Shades of Grey and I still can’t work out if that is a good or bad thing. A threadbare plot but watchable with periods of hotness. There is an attempt with a twist to make a bigger point about sexual relations in the workplace that could be stronger. #filmsky #review.

Saw this + I feel the title is how I felt watching this. This is a really boring film and feels like Jessie Eisenberg found a way to get his summer holiday paid for. You feel like you’re watching someone’s holiday vids + calling this a comedy was the only funny thing about this film. #filmsky #review

Got to see this last week and it’s a fun French comedy farce. Translated to “it’s raining men” a commentary on the state of many marriages + shows a nonjudgmental view of infidelity. Great performance by Laure Calamy + a almodovar style and feel especially with the use of colour. #flimsky #review

First film of 2025 + I should have ❤️ this. But this film made no sense. Seen by f all people (made $5k it’s opening in 🇺🇸 I don’t expect much more here). It is a mess that would have been better as a pure scfi drama or 💯 doc. It was preaching to a select group that would watch it. Awful. #film #2073.

I don’t think this will do well l initially as it only has a limited cinema release +its target audience can’t afford to take time to go to the cinema. The wolf metaphor wasn’t needed but it was entertaining + felt authentic. Based on the novel it should get the love it deserves on streaming #film.

I love a film based on a true story, and this was so good. An engrossing movie that shows the skill of the doctors and scientists involved but also centres women in the story and highlights medical misogyny that still very much exists today around the need to fund women’s health. #film

Just had the misfortune of seeing this in the cinema. Allmost experimental Hippy dippy metaphor porn with the shallowest of depth and a threadbare plot. Literally sent me asleep and others walked out. Shows danger of letting a director go rogue after a big hit (call me by your name). Avoid. #film
