I hear you - my rent in the Fan '93 was $365. But my twenty-somethings live in basically the same context (Cville, Austin, downtown Philly). I'm not blaming the phones but my own, albeit limited, observation is that I was more in-person with my friends than my kids & their peers. YMMV.

Sure Singles is a movie but it best approximates what my early 20s were like in the early 90s in Richmond, VA. I said so at the time, and still think so now. I have 2 kids in their early 20s, and I hung out with my friends casually then a lot more than my kids do now.
