Looking for the common ground, there is alway something; for me and slugs it is that we both want to eat the cabbages I grow in my garden.

Political but not party political. British and European. Brexit was a mistake.
Can't access the article in full but this appears to be referring to lead acid batteries which are used in IC petrol/diesel cars and are not the type used for powering EVs. It's bad and should be stopped but is it really worse because of green technology?

It's the fear factor. Those who know aren't scared of it but those with no experience can be persuaded it will ruin their life and take away what is theirs.

Tl;dr - if Labour want to combat racism, they should say racism is wrong, over and over, and act on that belief (e.g. by leaving certain social media sites owned by racists). That would do more to promote anti-racist norms, and protect the interests of Britain's minorities than immigration controls.

You saw what happened to the Tory party. They didn't want to admit to austerity&Brexit damage so scapegoating immigrants was a tempting excuse. Shameful. You didn't have that excuse but were too timid to call out the damage cause by egregious misinformation. Without its heart & soul Labour will die.

Don't worry about it. They don't know what they mean either.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan on why the Far Right lie about London crime: “They don’t want our modern, multicultural, progressive metropolis to succeed because they can’t stomach the truth. London is a place where people of every creed, colour and culture live together in peace and mutual respect.”

Labour may be ticking off many of its manifesto commitments but without its heart and soul, now sold to the far right nationalists, it will wither and die. Long term and sustained success comes from being well rooted in & sticking to your core values, not abandoning them for an apparent quick win.

That's the point - they were all false, because our political culture/media militates against the truth. The question isn't therefore merely one of fiscal policy; it's how to create a political system in which intelligent policy is even possible.

Someone born in 1975 would be 50 now. Approx 38% of UK population is >50 and many would have been children. So who is this majority & how do they know? Is it because the Telegraph is telling them?

Of course it was before Thatcher's policies started the trickle up & we did join EC, so not all bad.
