Have you watched his roast beef sandwich show? All of the B-roll (orange dinosaur, giant cactus, etc.) is from the town I live in.

I don’t know what that might look like (elementary T here so finals isn’t a thing I’m steeped in), but as a learner, I value the opportunity to say “Here’s my best shot, but I’m learning and might have been off the mark” & to actually get to see how I can improve w/feedback.

I hope you feel better soon, but until you’re physically well, rest easy knowing that this was a good decision. I think your read on the likely outcomes was spot on. Have you thought of having a revision component be part of the grade if you shift the timeline for the spring project?

My students are great but every now and then it gives me joy to do a Greetings, Fellow Kids and watch them squirm a little as I engage with Gen Alpha slang.

I started saying things like, “I am farming aura” or “My aura is growing because I made sure it had water and sunlight in order to photosynthesize” and one of the kids was like, “This is so cringe, please stop talking about aura,” & his classmate goes, “Ms. Wise, you’re REALLY aura farming now.”

(Reading UNO is just regular UNO with words written on the cards, and you have to read the word to play the card.)

One of my groups also taught me the phrase “aura farming,” although they are using it in a way that seems more synonymous with “doing well,” ex. if you are doing well while playing Reading UNO, you are aura farming; if you have to draw 4 you are not aura farming.

Hornbills were a very regular sight out my kitchen window when I lived at my rural site in the first two years of Peace Corps. Saw a lot of monkeys along the highway as well, not sure what specific species offhand. Everything else was in protected wildlife areas.

Similar! Mine had five spice, star anise, fermented red tofu, and hoisin sauce. This is the second year we’ve done duck for Thanksgiving.
