President of the AFL-CIO. Oregonian. Home union IBEW. Solidarity forever! she/her #1u
After more than 3 YEARS on strike facing relentless union busting, @pghguild.com members at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette have won!

This is a testament to the power that working people have when we stand in solidarity with each other.

This shutdown is now at 37 days and counting - the longest in America’s history.

Working families are feeling the pain of the shutdown and health care crisis. Enough is enough.

Fund the government.
Fix the health care crisis.
Put working people first.

Lacrosse players put their passion and their expertise into a sport that is skyrocketing in popularity, and they deserve a union that protects them on the field and in their lives.

Welcome to the @aflcio.org and our Sports Council, NLLPA! aflcio.org/press/releas...

The NLRB is one of workers’ only paths to workplace justice when their rights are violated. The AFL-CIO and OPEIU filed this motion to make sure working people aren’t being silenced, and that the law works to protect our freedom to join a union. aflcio.org/press/releas...

I’m in New Jersey with union volunteers getting out the vote for pro-worker candidates all across the state. As my friend, @NJAFLCIO President Charlie Wowkanech says, “Our unions turn out in record numbers to do the work!”
November 5, 2025 at 12:16 AM
Getting out the vote is one of the most uplifting things you can do as a union member, knocking on doors, making phone calls, and letting other union members know about the candidates who stand with workers. #ElectionDay

Were you shocked to see how much your ACA health care premium is going up for 2026? Help us show how the Trump administration’s refusal to extend ACA tax credits is about to cause a health care crisis in this country. #PostYourPremium

42 million people could go hungry next week because funding for SNAP food assistance will run out. The Department of Agriculture has contingency funds to help people get fed, but they refuse to release them.

Tell Congress and the USDA: release the funds! https://bit.ly/47eB2WG

I’m thrilled to welcome Alex Rias to the AFL-CIO as our Director of Civil, Human and Women’s Rights! His leadership will strengthen our movement’s efforts to protect workers’ fundamental rights and ensure every worker has a voice on the job. aflcio.org/press/releas...

I’m so proud of my union sister Roxanne Brown, who will be sworn in as the next International President of the @steelworkers.bsky.social! Let’s keep building worker power across the country!

America’s unions thank President McCall for his dedicated service to Steelworkers and ALL working people.

Working families are already struggling to make ends meet—they can’t afford for their health insurance costs to spike, too.

Enough is enough.

Fund the government.
Fix the mounting health care crisis.
Put working people first.

Women with disabilities are paid only $0.56 for every dollar that a man without disabilities makes.

On #DisabledWomensEqualPayDay, America’s unions reaffirm our commitment to fair pay and a living wage for every worker—and a union contract is how we level the playing field!

Three weeks into the government shutdown, our message remains the same:

Enough is enough.

Fund the government.
Fix the mounting health care crisis.
Put working people first.

Millions of people across the country showed up today to stand up to the Trump administration and protect federal workers, our health care and our communities.

This is what democracy looks like. No kings—not now, not ever!
October 18, 2025 at 7:57 PM
America’s unions will be out in force today marching to protect our federal workers, our health care and our democracy.

Together, we have the power to turn back the Trump administration’s attacks on working people.

Happy No Kings Day.

My union brother David Huerta is a leader in the LA community who was exercising his constitutional rights when he was violently arrested.

It’s a gross abuse of power and a threat to all workers that Trump’s DOJ is pursuing these baseless charges. aflcio.org/press/releas...

Safe staffing. Fair pay. Dignity. Respect.

We stand in solidarity with the 46,000 nurses and health care workers at Kaiser on strike fighting for a fair contract. All 15 million members of America’s unions have their backs!

It’s an honor to accept the Dubin award at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Dubin Labor Education Center at UMass Dartmouth.

In this moment that workers are under attack, this center's inspiring work to share the labor movement's stories is more important than ever.

7 out of 10 workers say they fear their job will be replaced by AI.

Workers need AI guardrails in place, and the Massachusetts AFL-CIO is leading the way with the FAIR Act to set those ground rules. I was on Beacon Hill today to urge lawmakers to protect MA workers and pass the FAIR Act!

AI at work needs to benefit everyone, not just Big Tech and those at the top.

We’re launching the Workers First Initiative on AI to advance workers’ vision for AI tech and build a path forward for equitable, human-centered innovation in our workplaces. aflcio.org/press/releas...

Kaiser holds $66 BILLION in reserves, yet refuses to give health care workers the fair pay and benefits they deserve and safe staffing they need to do their jobs.

America’s unions stand with the 46,000 workers at Kaiser on a 5-day strike fighting for a fair contract!

Federal workers are locked out of their jobs or working without pay. As @nffe.bsky.social President Randy Erwin said: they're struggling to make ends meet.

Federal workers aren't pawns. They should not have to suffer because of the Trump administration's political games.

Whether on the factory floor or on the pitch, everyone is using more data in the workplace. For athletes, that data should educate and empower them, not make their jobs harder.

It was great to join @mlspa.bsky.social for their symposium on how to make data and tech work for all workers.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a time to reflect on the powerful contributions that indigenous communities have made in our country and labor movement. We honor their fight for civil and worker rights after facing centuries of injustice, and stand with them for a better tomorrow.
