I'm working on some of the old Durham Cathedral Library records, and I have to wonder... did the person keeping records not like this particular borrower, or is the placement of these doodles simply because there was a convenient space? 😆

I'm often tempted to skip blocking, but oh what a difference it makes!

Bye bye, caboose!
September 3, 2025 at 9:33 PM
It's an iconic part of my childhood, and was going to play a featured role in a short film @writerlyryan.bsky.social and I are developing!

But sadly, on Tuesday, they're taking the caboose away. The owner of the property no long wants to rent this little slice of land—

So, this is my farewell! 🥹

See, the caboose was our rural neighborhood's version of a haunted house. A bit of folklore—

We swore a ghost lived inside, and that in certain light you could see bars on the windows keeping them in.

At night, biking to or from a friend's house, always hurry past the caboose, if you're smart...
August 30, 2025 at 11:56 PM
The people who owned it originally lived out of state, and had plans to eventually move here, but never did.

When I was little, us neighborhood kids would all sneak over to play on it and collect rocks from the tracks underneath (it was also not jacked up on wood then)--

But only in the daylight!

This is the caboose

25 or so years ago, in the middle of the night, it showed up in the field across from my childhood home. It didn't have the barn next to it back then, or the caution tape

I've taken matters into my own hands and mixed some blue dye to put over the top! Before on the left and after on the right--I feel like the picture is misleading, but in person it feels MUCH closer to what's in my existing squares now 🎉 #dhmakes

I first wrote this tool when I was a much less experienced programmer, so remembering how to update was... an experience. Please, if you use it and encounter any errors, please DM me the manifest you tried!

This is why it's important to buy all the yarn you need for a project at once 😬 This new dye lot of Malabrigo Rios Lotus has waaay more green and yellow than the previous one I bought from

Okay so like, I know I haven't finished THIS one yet, but hear me out: what if I ALSO started the Persian Tiles blanket 👀 www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...

I love when it's time to swap ink colors in one of my pens and I get to do the gradient squiggles 😍 I also love this Monte Verde brown 🤎

Friday I decided I need a little reading & writing corner, separate from my computer desk/office. Saturday I bought this beat up desk off Facebook marketplace and repainted the top. Today, I moved all my pens, ink, and spare notebooks here, and I LOVE it!

More fun notebook finds, and so appropriate for Pride month! 🌈 I was taking down some thoughts while people-watching at SF Pride 2015 when a person came up and asked if they could write in my notebook. I hope Jeremy Marley is somewhere this year celebrating number 35 this year! ❤️

Found my notebook from freshman year of college, and it's clear @etreharne.bsky.social's class The Material Book was leaving an impression!

"Huh, Material Book has me noticing things. Like that this is the center of a choir [sic 😅] see the stitching?"

And what a lasting impression it was! ❤️

This hammock is probably the best thing I've ever purchased 😍
