Don’t buy a car from Carvana.

They will collect your payments but will not send them to the lien holder.

After a few months of “missed” payments the lien holder will repo your car without warning.

This happened to my son in San Antonio.

This is theft.

Episode 2 of The Disruptors was with Tyler Anderson, CPA, who, along with the team at AccountABILITY Plus, is working to change audit from mindless ticking and tying to adding value to make client's businesses better.

As I near the release of the 100th episode of my @cpatrendlines.bsky.social podcast, The Disruptors, I'm revisiting early episodes.
My very first guest was Amanda Aguillard, who talked about the magic of process.

At Appy Camp this last year, I was surrounded by people with all kinds of creative ideas for accounting firms. Beth Whitworth hires permanent part-time people who have more time for their families.

I have been wondering why firm culture has become such a big deal and I think this is part of the reason.
Modern society is dehumanizing, and the mission of the 21st Century will be unraveling that.

Spoiler alert for fans of trickle down economics: business owners don’t hire based on their tax bill. They hire based on demand for the stuff their businesses make.
The trickle-down myth is deeply embedded in the American psyche and it’s beyond time to excise it.

What will accounting look like in 10 years?

I've been asking lots of accountants this question, but I don't think anyone's thinking big enough. We're in a period of accelerating technology changes, so in 10 years, we could see changes of the same magnitude of the last 20.
