In the fall of 2019 @mishacollins.bsky.social requested Gishers to create a burnable image of our deepest fears. I sent this.
Misha, did you burn it with the rest?
@coollikeasquid

Hi Natalie! I hope you are well!
I'm missing GISH and our team a lot. Tomorrow would be the end of a hunt!

I have what I hope is super good news: I have found the dongle and software for the huskvarna embroidery machine.

Do you still have my phone number? Please call!

Is it just me?
This seems bass-ackwards.

A bipartisan bill that 'solves' the housing crisis only by encouraging new housing?

First, lesson from Hurricane Katrina etc. - relaxing housing codes allows more shady developers to make money apple.news/AZEr-92-STNO...

Remember all of those hefty handouts Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski won in exchange for sealing the deal on Donald Trump’s behemoth budget bill? It looks like the president has found a way to get out of delivering.

ICYMI: A judge narrowed a block on part of Trump’s anti-voting order — limiting it to the 19 Democratic states that sued.

This move is a sign of how SCOTUS’s new limits on nationwide injunctions could weaken protections in future voting rights cases.

The danger of appointing people to government entity roles who have made a career out of hating “government” is that they will intentionally sabotage the efficacy of their entity to prove they were right about government.
Kristi Noem didn’t approve FEMA rescue teams for over 72 hours after the Texas floods, following a rule she imposed that required her personal sign-off on any operation over $100K.

This is inexcusable. She should resign.

Globally, roughly a third more power is being generated from the sun this spring than last. If this exponential rate of growth can continue, we will soon live in a very different world, @billmckibben.bsky.social writes.

In the past two years, without much notice, solar power has begun to truly transform the world’s energy system.

I'd like to see a tax revolt: if I.
One thing we have learned is that homelessness in America was 100% a choice.

If we can stand up housing for detainees all over America in a matter of months, we could have done so for the homeless.

We demanded far far too little from our Democratic leaders. We should have demanded they do more.

AFL–CIO President: We’re taking this bus across the country to highlight what’s happening with these cuts we just saw in the worst job-killing bill in history. This bus is going to show up everywhere. We’ll be outside VA hospitals and grocery stores, showing how these SNAP cuts will impact families.

“The idea, promoted by the administration, that the president may determine which laws to follow, which to ignore and which to violate, is the single most dangerous development in U.S. history since the Civil War. That the Supreme Court and Congress have accepted it thus far is deeply ominous.”
A very smart friend of mine has introduced me to the concept of “moral injury.” It sure does help describe the national trauma we are all experiencing. Which is a crucial step toward finding a way to produce the change we so urgently need. open.substack.com/pub/davidrot...

Since 1980, there have been over 400 weather disasters in the US, with total damages over $1 billion.

These disasters have cost $2.9 trillion in total and killed nearly 17,000 people.

Don't tell me we "can't afford" to address the climate crisis.

The truth is we can’t afford not to.

Democracies do not use their military to try and intimidate their own citizens with “shows of presence”.

This is fascism.
Military documents confirm that the LA operation today was a “show of presence” intended to send a message to LA residents about the power of the federal government.

After staging with armed soldiers and Border Patrol agents on horse, they packed up and left after a short walk.

GOP policies strive to make a small number of people very rich, while keeping the majority in desperate poverty because the poor are easier to exploit.
