Followed by #ConfinedCocktails in a cave. This is one of the most famous pubs on Tyneside but for some reason I’ve never been there before

#UnconfinedWalks South Tyneside (it amused me anyway……)

Interesting perspective from writer Jenny Erpenbeck on what should be included in a writer’s archive. Archivists may disagree. (From today’s Observer)

#UnconfinedWalks today - "Keep Out" (we didn't), historic building & random cutlery. A bit damp on occasions but not too bad.. (Backworth, Burradon, Northumberland)

Sad if this really is the last Lumiere in Durham - an enjoyable evening and only a few spots of rain tonight. (This is an actual tree not a projection, while we were queuing to get into the cathedral)

I understand this is the actual crown of the Holy Roman Empire - worth toiling up a foggy path #UnconfinedWalks #Visegrad

No #UnconfinedWalks for me today as I had a supermarket run but here are some pics from a mooch around Morpeth in the (wintry) sunshine yesterday

#UnconfinedWalks leaves on the line 😅. I think this is part of the old Bowes Railway in Gateshead. Nice, warm morning for a walk starting from the Angel of the North

This is Rosie. Not my pet but I meet her on some Mondays. She likes to pick up things to carry in her mouth - usually discarded coffee cups, paper bags or tissues but on this occasion she found a baby's dummy

The highlight though is a war memorial painting by Francis Newbery of the Glasgow School of Art - thanks @tynesnapper.bsky.social for putting me on to that 3/3

Surprisingly High Anglican for a small suburban church, complete with incense, gong & Lady Chapel (designed by Hicks & Charlewood, who for the purposes of the guided tour I affected to know nothing about) 2/

My sole visit of this year’s Heritage Open Days was to my local parish church St Hilda’s, Jesmond, which I’d never been into before, though the adjacent schoolroom is my regular polling station 1/
