The fact that they were stuck with the first draft of the script for all of development because of recording the VAs early didn't help with that. And the fact that it was just two guys making it for the majority of the time. Thankfully the update improves the presentation a lot

He's also an unreliable narrator that makes stuff up to justify his actions, and likes using big words because he thinks he's coming across to us (the player) as smart, but really he's falling flat on his face. And people saw that and just assumed it was all unironically bad writing.

The thing about that is that he's specifically written to me an asshole who gets *this close* to realizing that your friends leave you if you treat them like garbage, but *doesn't*, and that's not everybody's cup of tea.
