I thought about this in my writing a lot. Over time I lowered the number of sex scenes in my more serious work.
One of my characters ended up pining to be the woman her girlfriend needed her to be but in the end she dragged both of them into serving an evil society. Quite a lot of sex in that book.

Thinking about how people don’t believe you can have sex AND yearning in a romance book or show and how that squares with puritanical ideas about sex being the ultimate prize in life.
