HAH! It turns out I accidentally did NANOWRIMO, with a total of 70,000 words. Not a novel (more the concluding of a long story arc) but still! Success!

A lot of fiction always involves a token normal human race, someone for folks to relate to. I do not do that. I have a token humanoid race but they are covered in natural plating, wear heavy armor and a mask all the time and are admittedly kinda just organic Toa without the elemental powers.

I find, when writing about non-human species, you also have to consider that their mating rituals are going to be completely different. "I desperately require your body" sounds weird to a human, but I find it appealing and arousing.
