An amazing experience riding The Alps Ultracycling Adventure from Tegernsee to Lago di Garda this week. Highly recommended for endurance cyclists who like lots of rugged climbing into remote and beautiful locations. Great camaraderie among riders and crew!

🇬🇪Georgia’s paradox: a government despised by its people, yet firmly in power.
Ivanishvili’s Georgian Dream survives not through popularity, but by fusing repression, economic dependency, and rigged institutions.
🧵In this thread I try to explain this paradox.

I agree.
the CBC was founded as a bulwark against US cultural imperialism, to ensure we had canadian news and canadian culture.

there should be a renewed emphasis on that mandate, particularly to stop reporting so much on what happens in the US for eyeballs and ad dollars.

You ever think about how the Great Famine in China was in large part a data manipulation problem created to please an authoritarian leader that led to the deaths of tens of millions of people?

Why is anyone, including CNN, giving a platform to one of the worst Canadians ever, Kevin O’Leary?

Serious question @cnn.com.
O’Leary: If any of you cared about the victims, you wouldn't drag these women back into the limelight… They don’t want you to help them anymore

Cross: How do you know that?

O’Leary: Don’t you think if it was you, you would rather get on with your life?

Cross: No, I would want justice pursued

Canada's new reality: a neighbouring country whose gov't wants us to either fail or be annexed. We can't beef up that border (physical and conceptual) fast enough.

Very interesting thread!
So this phrase “able-bodied” has clearly been on the most recent list of R talking points. It comes from the first round of English labor laws, which were instituted after the Black Death.

A mini medieval story time!
Jim Jordan: "If there's an able-bodied adult out there now who is in our welfare system, guess what -- that person is going to have to work ... that is far from immoral."
