The circle is called a hoop, and yes, you can display your work in the hoop if you want. Or you can frame it instead. You can embroider clothing, towels, bags, hats, - pretty much anything you can get thread/floss/yarn through, you can embroider. It can be decorative to look at or practical/useful.

Cast on stitch is the only time I've ever rage-quit embroidery. I've since defeated it, but at the beginning...oof.

Can't help with the newfangled phone app, since I use an old lady computer. But here, when you upload a photo, there's a black label at the top corner that says "+ALT TEXT" or something along those lines. Maybe something similar?
