Considering the handful of hobbies I have - some which I've done since I was a kid - I really do think my HEMA goal is just to manage to continue to enjoy something while not being the best at it. It is fun - it looks cool, feels cool, sounds cool - and that's all it needs to be.

the swamp of despair (from 2018)
A graph titled “The Creative Process” showing a cute pumpkin girl going through stages of making something. She starts out high up, “I just had the best idea!!!” and starts sliding down a hill “this isnt as simple as I expected.” She winds up in The Swamp of Despair (two skulls say: “this part sucks! don’t give up!”) She says, “this sucks, I suck. Why am I wasting my time.” She crawls her way out of the swamp “it’s not perfect but I’m going to finish” and crests the final hill, “it’s done??? I lived???” Finally, she walks away from it all, glittering with pride. “This turned out pretty good!”

I'm right at the point in my #HEMA journey that I want nothing more than to draw #art of fun fits while I consider what jacket I might decide to go with. So normal about it.
Three variations of the same heavy-duty fencing outfit meant for Historical European Martial Arts sparring. Each outfit is overlaid with hard protectors on the shoulders, elbows, knees, arms, hands, and shins, and each has it's own pattern of black and gold fabric. A jack o lantern style face is painted on each fencing mask.
