@belfastnfc.bsky.social last Saturday’s fungus foray might have been cancelled but that didn’t stop one of our members exhibiting a collection of fungi from her garden at the annual Conversazioni.

The Observer is still having trouble with fl and fi. Last week it was quite an interesting puzzle. Today it is irritating and I suspect if it continues is will be annoying.

Yesterday was last of BNFC winter programme marking the end of 160th year and start of 161st year. We had an interesting and informative visit to Friars Bush graveyard.

@belfastnfc.bsky.social. An ancient ‘fairy’ thorn tree grew in Friars Bush graveyard until a storm in January The wood has been removed and will be used to fashion artefacts commemorating the history of the site which can be traced back to the 1500s. #naturalists #irisharchaeology #trees #folklore

Saturday was the first field trip of 2025 for @belfastnfc.bsky.social we had a guided tour of Friars Bush graveyard which is not only reflects the history of Belfast but is a haven for wildlife.

We bought it in the Kilkenny Centre in Dublin sometime in the 1980s. As you can see it was used as an ashtray in emergencies.
