Getting my print on. Nothing is call ready for prime time, but I’m getting closer. I’m enjoying getting into a new art form and figuring out the process. Once it clicks I’ll be able to start cranking!

When you’re that person who is climbing through the pine straw at the edge of the doctor’s office parking lot trying to get a good pic of the super cool mushrooms they have coming up…

First linocut in 20+ years, and I went with mushrooms, bc why not. They’re neat lil guys and offer so much opportunity for experimenting with texture and line weight. First few look good, but I need to clean up the block a bit before trying to pull enough for a decent edition.

Apologies for the crappy photo. Has anyone seen a white tympanum on a green frog before? Pic was taken at one of my ponds. I’ve never seen this on any of the local green frogs (I’m in Raleigh, NC) and trying to find an answer on Google was useless. #frogsky #herpsky #frogs

Lots of shrooms! I’m taking a printmaking class and a one color linocut is our first assignment. I’m looking forward to figuring out all the different textures. And to not cutting my fingers…

Is Wiley the cutest fur rug in the work, or what? Asking for him.

Two new pots getting ready for glaze and second firing. I can’t get over how talented my wife is, and I’m always happy to do my scratchings on the pots she makes. I’m in love with the naughty cats scoping out forbidden objects.

I caught one of them in our pollinator garden. I’d wondered about the type. Sadly, my phone camera does it no justice!

This gorgeous orbweaver set up shop in our front pollinator bed. The pics don’t do her justice. Her underside is a beautiful metallic gold that doesn’t come through at all. She’s about the size of the first joint of my thumb. I hope she sticks around for a while.

Mine is a mess, but I knew it would be, since I grew up in midwestern Canada, but have popped around the Midwest, NJ, and NC since I moved to the states. I like to pick my favorite regionalisms and stick with them, even after moving somewhere new.

That a gorgeous pic! We have swamp milkweed beetles here. Lots and lots… they keep making more.

I’m pleased to announce that we finally have spawn in our ponds! The grey tree frogs have been busy, and I’m looking forward to tadpoles on a few days!

Yep. I started out with Fallout stuff as something to do when I was unemployed a few years back. Sold them to make a little extra cash. Those two are the ones that are left from my pipe rifle binge. If you’re interested, I’d be willing to part with them for the price of shipping.

Those are amazing! I dabble in EVA a bit myself. I tend toward fantasy weapons, but I take breaks for sci-fi guns. Behold my corner of shame…

Same. Wiley is clearly sleeping off a three day bender.

The color palette makes him look ephemeral, in the way fire is. Not the look I’d be going for if I was a monarch.

This very well fed rat snake was our front porch visitor yesterday. Alas, I can only post it on Bluesky, since my mom follows me on other platforms, and she has a crippling fear of sneks.

What kind of mutant snapdragons did we breed? The white ones have overwintered for 3 years and morphed into a jawless variety (fuchsia ones for comparison). Am I fascinated by how this happened? Yes. Am I also annoyed that I can’t squeeze the blooms to make them chomp? Also yes!

Khajiit has wares, if you have coin.

Wiley’s OS has crashed again.

It’s Leap Day. Post frog.

I love that this is either a tiny toad on a moss-covered driveway, or a large toad heading out to save the Shire.

That’s one way to get around the “no cats allowed on the dining room table” rule…

If you see this post kitty (or Kitty).

Mine is blooming too! It was a sad sad Walmart rescuee a couple of weeks after Christmas a few years ago. It’s the only blossom because one of my cats played the other three buds off the plant over the course of a few nights. I’m excited to have the one. First time I’ve had a Xmas cactus bloom!
