Just made the leap from the Other Place!

I'm a primary teacher who works for a little firm taking history & science workshops into primary schools across east, central & southern England.

Seeking education, science & history content, plus humour, food & crafts.
I'm an Out & Proud Parent of two fabulous young queer adults 🏳️‍🌈

Too many LGBTQIA+ young people are rejected by their parents 😪

I do love my van! 🥰🚐
#YearEndStats

During 2024-25, our fleet of silver vans drove a whopping 108,000 miles to take in-person workshops to schools. That's more than 4 times around the world!

Really, REALLY proud of what we do. Memorable immersive learning experiences for ALL pupils!
Time for another #FeedbackFriday 👍

This is what teachers, pupils & parents think about how we include & engage the pupils with SEND. Looks like we do a great job! 🥰

Inordinately proud of this video 😍

I did the stop-motion part & a colleague did the start & end. We had a lot of fun putting this together!

We really do physically post the stuff that you need to make the crafts for our Virtual workshops!

Here's what you will get if you are participating in our "Life in Ancient Greece" workshop.

Absolutely amazing weekend! Loved every second. Learned so much & can't wait to share what I have learned by adding to the workshops in schools.

Organised by Castle Hill Heritage Skills CIC at the Ancient Technology Centre. Can recommend!

This explains a lot!
♫ Mahna Mahna, Do doo be-do-do ♫ (Why do we get earworms?)

theneuroscienceofeve...

I figured I'd explore how and why earworms happen, what with having had one lodged in my brain for several days.

And now, having read the title of the resulting piece, so do you. Sorry.

♫ Mahna Mahna, Do doo be-do-do ♫ (Why do we get earworms?)
If we mention or even just allude to a catchy song, we risk having part of it playing on a loop in our head, for days on end. What's that about? And what can we do about it?

To mark the 1st day of my 4th year without Alice I have an announcement:
I’ve joined up with a determined group of women working to change the narrative around trans people. Women standing in solidarity with our trans siblings.

Our first step is to ask cis women to read and sign our open letter ⬇️
Not in our name: Women in support of the trans+ community
Can you spare a minute to help this campaign?

THIS!

And do please read @georgepenney.bsky.social 's daily posts 🥰 A regular dose of calm, charm, whimsy & joy.
🧵I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about kindness since I've moved here to Aotearoa New Zealand and would like to share some thoughts. (Please bear with me!):

1. Kindness is learned. It's not innate. People are taught kindness by other people. We are creatures that learn by example.

Ooh yes! I can identify with this!

"Obstreperous" is SUCH a good word!
Maybe I STARTED OUT made of sugar and spice and all things nice, but now I’m made of coffee, capsicum, obstreperousness and dark stories.

How was your day at work today? What did your school do to bring learning to life?

High quality, hands-on, immersive learning like this is just tremendous. Need more!!!
The calm before the day begins. We are at @sidegateprimary.bsky.social helping to take 640 (!!!) children back to VE Day. Our in-school days are normally for a maximum of 60 or 90 children, so seeing an ENTIRE school in one day is quite the undertaking!

Sharing!
I have this photo of 2 children who were evacuated to my uncle and aunt’s farm from Manchester. John and Jessie Pender 10 year old twins from Manchester - it must have been a huge upheaval. I wonder what happened to them? Jessie looks very nervous. It would be lovely to find any descendants.

What is your school doing for #VEDay80?
We are fully booked for in-person sessions around the 80th anniversary of #VEDay, but there's still plenty of time to book our unique virtual visit to wartime life. #EduSky #EduSkyPrimary #PrimaryHistory

Megathread of pro-trans petitions on Parliament’s petition website. If Labour suddenly gets hit with debates for a bunch of pro-trans petitions, maybe they’ll realise this issue isn’t going away and they’ve fucked up.

I’ll add more as I find them.

I wish I'd taken a 'before' picture! It was so tarnished, it was almost purple 🙄

My arms actually hurt now from the polishing. Hard work, but very satisfying.
