It's hard to write about funerals, so suffice to say we said goodbye to Vince's mum today. The flowers were perfect for her cheerful optimism, and the words said showed just how deeply loved she was. We are exhausted right now 🥀💛

My Mother-in-law passed away a week ago, and today I caught Lewis Capaldi's 'Something in the Heavens' on my playlist and it made me tear up. So I wrote something. I left out a while to post, because I didn't want to invade their grief. My MIL was the strongest most passionate fighter I've known.
I have a strange relationship with death, having wanted to be there several times during my life, and I don't often cry when I grieve. I tend to save my tears for those who remain behind. I didn't cry when Mum passed away, but I wept buckets when Dad fell apart. Seeing the rawness of pain in those I love leaves me completely undone. My Mother-in-law left this world a week or so ago, and I've seen how much our family are grieving. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are heartbroken, and I'm quietly grieving alongside them. I listened to Lewis Capaldi's 'Something in the Heavens' today, and my heart felt a mixture of assurance and heartache for Doreen's family. The true beauty of their family for me is watching them grieve together. No one is left out or left behind, they've been checking up on each other and loving each other in a time when they've lost a powerhouse of a woman. Their chat is full of photos, memories, pain, laughter, and love. I'm listening to my own children, her grandchildren, talk about their memories of her and how much love they feel for Pops. I'm watching Vince open up with his sisters, and with me. He's a quiet griever, too, but his words have been soft, beautiful, and soulful, and that's what makes me cry. She was a strong woman, full of compassion and conviction, and when I first met her years and years ago, she welcomed me into her family without a second thought. She wrote some of the loveliest words I've read, she had the strength of a warrior, and she loved deeply and passionately. She leaves a beautiful legacy behind, and wherever she is right now, I know she's right here beside her family, still holding them close with arms of love 💚 (Green Opal for Healing 💚) A bowl of my Green Opal gem stones. Three palm stones, a few of tumbles, a baby sphere, and my favourite heart. Green opals are all about emotional healing.

This is the cake I was making yesterday, for Cait's birthday, while she was ice-skating on the Rockefeller ice rink in New York!
We haven't eaten it yet, so well see if the red velvet thing worked later, when we have a slice!

Lovely way to start the day... now I may need to change into my painting clothes and get back into the hallway! Yesterday, I painted the outside of the bathroom door and its frame, and some of the skirting, the day before I finished inside the bathroom. I'm working my way through the hall.

A teaser of my new tattoo... mainly because it wraps around the back of my arm, so I can't catch my raven in a photo. On my own, lol! 🖤🐦‍⬛ I love it sooo much!
