Widow, Urban Arrow cargo bike mama to twins, yyc.
Me being an irresponsible parent allowing my kids to ride all over the road while I take this video 🙃🙄

Teaching my kids reminds me how incredible teachers are.
We’ve dropped the provincially released strike curriculum and are learning to sew instead—so fair warning: handmade gifts for everyone this Christmas! #yyc

It’s true, this goat held on for 25 km. I was glad I had one in my pannier bag for it!

We made it out for one last 2025 BVP ride. The 7s (they are 7 now!!) did spectacular as always and used their birthday money to purchase Johnston Canyon goats. 6 hours, 50 km, a few tears, lots of smiles, and now an exhausted family.

If you need a ladder to get in, maybe it’s too tall to be sharing the road with kids

Somehow we have gone from toddlers riding in the urban arrow to independent riders and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I am so proud of how independent these two are and I love all that them riding brings but I am still struggling with the fact that they don’t want to ride in the UA anymore.

Anyone have suggestions or comments on any of these suggested bike routes? I just want safe and easy….

Smoke season: when it’s too hot to keep the windows closed, too smoky to open them, and you feel guilty running the AC because the planet’s already on fire—yet it’s still too warm inside to sleep. #yyc

First day of grade 2 was a smokey one but we still got out there on our bikes.
Happy to see full bike racks and lots of parents arriving with kids on bikes this morning!

When two sets of twins plan a play date where they bike to Johnston’s Canyon for ice cream the parents make it happen.
I will say the 45 km return trip was much easier emotionally with 2 more parents and friends but it took at an additional 90 minutes compared to the spring.

Sometimes in August you need to transport a Christmas tree #yycbike

Today was the seasonal wake up before dawn to sign your kids up for swimming lessons day. Logged in at 5:30 to get into the queue, registered by 7am. Better than previous years but still a process.

I responded to his response and cc’d my MLA. I appreciate having an NDP MLA and that they don’t seem too annoyed that I cc them in my emails.

Oh I got this response last night to a letter I sent over a month ago.

Summer days are riding your bike to and from the outdoor pool in your swimsuits, listening to music and being outside.

Side note- the pink polka dot swim suit is my first attempt at sewing a swimsuit!!!

Explaining 4-way stop rules to my 6-year-olds—after a driver who rolled through the intersection told us to learn the rules of the road.

I used to love to cook but since having kids it has become a chore that I dislike. My kids often eat the most random meals. One night this week they each had half a watermelon and mini pizza.
They were fed and no one cried and there were minimal dishes… it’s a win in my mind.

Tracking our bike kilometres this summer. This is the last 7 weeks of biking for my 6 year olds. I love that they are so excited to mark the charts daily!

I periodically get these electricity usage reports. I have updated our appliances, we turn lights off when we aren’t using them, we do most of the stuff advised but we are always in the fair zone. I wish condos had more options to be energy efficient when the condo board isn’t inclined.

“Can we go to the park so we can read in a tree?”
Yes, always yes.

Does anyone have a photo of salamander crossing sign that had the googly eyes on it? I need one for work without my kids in it.

These two biked up and down hills all day. The worst that happens is the kids walk their bikes!

Father’s Day will always be a heart wrenching time of year in our home. Phil would have loved this card. #childhoodgrief
