Just passing it on. Thanks to the people working at the Bakery Lorraine on Louis Pasteur in San Antonio today for the smiles! (The surprise complimentary piece of pineapple-upside-down cake was the cherry on top.) Little gestures really do go far. :)

Very cool getting to see some of Isabelle Brourman’s court sketches in person at the Untitled Art Fair in Houston. They feel like they handily place a firm stamp both in art history & in American history. Great, thought-provoking work that elevates an overlooked art form & reframes current events.

A painting from a 2021, "Two Truths and a Lie" from 2021. Crazy shit goes down in the desert at night, just like crazy shit goes down in Every Town, America, smack dab in the middle of the day.

One of several new editions to The Monster Oracle, a project I've been working on for a really long time now. Felt good to get it out and on paper.

I've been creating in-depth artist talks for 2 yrs now & there's definitely been a growth arc: from discomfort w/being in front of the camera to having 0 editing experience to just having a loose idea of it, & each conversation has been a gift.

I was looking back at some collages I made last winter and this one called "Paint the Town Red" made me of think of all the current TX redistricting flexing/unconstitutional BS/blatant power grab. Read more about it (and others like it) here:

Some scenes from @wurla.bsky.social /Kate Csillagi's mural unveiling yesterday. Congratulations, Kate, it looks great!

Btw, if you haven't caught the 2-part artist talk I did with Kate, you can catch them here:

There is stuff in the works, but it's nowhere close to ready to share, even in-progress. So I'm sharing some older work starting with my Mars Revisted series from 2018. I made a short, meditative video on YouTube & wrote about the first painting on Substack. Pick one, or both.

What started w/ a simple question, "What are you working on?" turned into a conversation w/Kate Csillagi @wurla.bsky.social about U.S. & world events, how we are transforming alongside everything else, & how that's impacting our art practices. Nothing happens in isolation.

A new artist talk with Kate Csillagi/ @wurla.bsky.social is up on YouTube! Eels, epiphanies, ferrocement, pool murals, collaborations, art collectives, dreams, visions, "woo," & then some. I loved this talk & hope that you will too:

Following from my previous post, I created a short highlights video of the memorial concert for artist-musician John Freeman. It took a week to for my system to recalibrate after so much adrenaline was pulsing through my veins from all the emotions being felt all at once!

On March 30 I went to a memorial concert for an old friend, artist-musician John Freeman. The event was potent, and I feel like cool things will emerge from that group of people coming together again. I wrote about the experience here:

Sunday was the memorial concert for musician/songwriter/artist/force John Freeman in Denton, TX. So many emotions all at once, so many amazing people, so much rocking out/dancing & releasing grief/baggage/BS while new seeds were being planted all over. Pure magic. Powerful medicine. Thanks, John.

It took me a while to edit this, kept starting & just didn't have it in me, but I finally got this video remembering Denton/Dallas musician John Freeman finished and posted. Artist Marshall Thompson & I share stories about our mutual friend, who died in August. Watch it here:

I got up to watch the lunar eclipse last night. There were thin radiatus (striped) clouds perfectly framing the moon & as the shadow turned to its reddish hue, the clouds took on a very faint pinkish-orange & dark gray hue like a giant tiger in the sky.

How are you? How is your heart? Today on Substack I shared some of my earliest Visual Meditations in tandem with some tried and true guidelines for navigating the abyss, for those times when you find yourself there. I personally needed the reminder.

Some of the signs from today at the TX capital in Austin for the @50501movement.bsky.social protest. I always love a good Come and Take it sign/flag too! Protests are patriotism. Protest are a protected right. 🍊 man can F right off with that BS.

A huge congrats to Andrea Tosten on landing a solo show at Women & Their Work for their 2026-2027 programming! Can't wait to see this show. This is a great time to revisit (or to listen for the first time) to this talk we did last June:

A friend spotted me in this video from TX Public Radio & sent it to me. I’m the gray-haired lady w/the black sign. (I’m not on FB anymore but was able watch on a browser.) It’s from the protest in San Antonio. Respectable turnout & lots of support from passersby.

Ready for tomorrow. (Pro tip: a butterfly net makes a perfect lightweight post for protest signage.) Head to your closest state or city capital tomorrow/President’s Day at high noon. @50501movement.bsky.social

There's been a detour into collages (not usually my thing) in the studio lately. Just finished a bundle of them and shared thoughts related to them on Substack. These were effectively cathartic for me.
