For the sake of my mental health and physical well-being, I'm taking this afternoon off. My first meeting begins at 8am. My last meeting ends at noon.

I'm planning hijinx and tomfoolery (or maybe a nice walk! or both!) and a nap after that. TGIF! 🎉

Sunday is the teach-in and I can't wait!

What a delightful surprise at Friday's Vital Voices podcast recording for "All the Cool Girls Get Fired" book tour. The one and only Tarana Burke joined the group. I had an intense #fangirl moment. What a night! #blacksky

I just met one of my fav newsppl, Norah O'Donnell! 🥰 Did I bring my old Washingtonian magazine, in which she and I were featured as ppl "we'd like to have lunch with?" Is the feature now autographed? Yes and yes. Here for a live podcast taping with the authors of "All the Cool Girls Get Fired."

About last night ... I had the honor to listen to *the* Black Jewish Afroculinarian himself, live and in-person, Michael Twitty @koshersoul.bsky.social. 🥰 He discussed his new book, Recipies From the American South, which was released on the 15th. My copy is now signed! 🫶🏽 #fangirl #historygeek #cook

I can't wait for this teach-in next weekend on the National Mall. I've volunteered to help out and might be assigned a T.A. role. 🤞🏽

@stacykess.bsky.social It could be my chance to read to (teach) kids. 🙏🏽 I've asked about establishing a "Kid's Corner."

Same day as the Marine Corps Marathon. 😇

Hi, Alex! 👋🏾 I imagine this primary will be reminiscent of #Ward7 in '24. If I recall correctly, there were initially 18-20 candidates in the race with 10 on the primary ballot. I was at multiple Ward 7 sites that day (see below) and multiple folks, even one candidate, bemoaned the lack of RCV.

I am excited for this teach-in on the National Mall, 3 weeks from today. While my role now is as observer, I hope to bump that up to being a teacher. Maybe there can be a children's corner. I can read to the kids and lead an earnest, compassionate discussion. I am ready. Let's do this! 💪🏽❤️🖤💚

What a day! ✨️ I met one of my heroes (no exaggeration!), @agawande.bsky.social, today! His book came out the year my bff died of metastatic breast cancer. I was her bullshit detector as we navigated the healthcare industrial complex during the final 8-9 months of her life. Thankful for his work! 🙏🏽

Two nights ago, hubby and I saw the amazing @johnlegend in concert. We're not groupies (yet); this is the 3rd time we've seen him live. Does not disappoint. I imagine it's like seeing Marvin Gaye in concert back in the day: sex appeal and an overdose of talent!! Brought feels of Luther and Prince! 🔥

American Democracy in Distress Ignore Race at Our Peril

Every single day, I look at this quilt, which I created in 2021, hanging in my home studio, wondering why I've felt like I've been YELLING 👏 INTO 👏THE 👏 VOID 👏 ever since. I'm hoarse.

Can you hear me now? CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW??!! #democracy
