Mom, English teacher, bleeding heart, potty mouth, showtune enthusiast, 🏳️‍🌈 ally, movie watcher, clinically-depressed optimist. Be kind.
And now I have my own classroom. The days can be long, but my god do I love it.
I made the decision to get my teaching certificate and bring all of my SciComm enthusiasm directly to kids in the classroom.

I’ve been subbing for about 4 months now and I love my time with students, so I want to make it full time, day in and day out. Those little weirdos give me so much life.

I've read one whole book on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and haven't even done all the exercises, but man, I already feel more like a winner. Where has this been??

I can't take ADHD meds anymore and it's nice to not feel like a failure so much.

Science.
Someone asked me why sharks stick their dorsal fins out of the water. The answer is simple.

Sharks’ dorsal fins stick out of the water sometimes because their fins are on top of and therefore higher than the rest of their body, and sometimes their body is near the surface of the water.

I just ordered 100 blank postcards to draw pictures and write short messages to my four-year-old niece.

Please send how-to-draw tutorials if you can, because I'm not actually very good at it.

🧪Tune in to Science Friday today to hear my interview with Ira Flatow! We chatted about my time covering the University Rover Challenge for KUER, including what happens when 500 college engineering undergrads descend on a town of 160 people in the Utah desert.

I live in a small town and our City Council meeting last night was bananas. How do big cities even do it??
