Thanks to KLM for two delayed flights, I’ve managed some good reading action today.

Not the End of the World by @hannahritchie.bsky.social Illuminating and surprising in equal measure.

I was cautious because I didn’t really rate The Buried Giant, but I’m invested in the characters in Klara in the same way as Never Let Me Go.

Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. Almost as good as Never Let Me Go, which is one of my all time favourites.

Only one alarm?? That time requires at least three alarms at two minute intervals. Just to be sure.

I bought the next book for my daughter as well, but she didn’t rave about it as much as this one either. (Most of my books are hand me downs from her, which is stressful as she reads a lot quicker than I do).

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton is my holiday read this week.

It was My Name is Red by Orhan Pamuk. I started reading it on a flight, so was quite a long way in and really should have given up, but I finally finished it this weekend. Funnily enough I realised I had taken a lot from the book, but it was very hard going.

I’m reading Dr Haggard’s Disease by Patrick McGrath. The perfect book for getting me back on track with reading after struggling through a book I really should have given up on weeks ago.

My Name is Red by Orhan Pamuk. It’s been slow going so far.

Now I’ve read the first page, I have to read the book.

Love it there.

I’ve just finished Maya’s Notebook by Isabel Allende, so it’s time to start Parable of the Sower by Octavia E Butler after seeing it on your thread a few weeks ago.

Ooh, this looks like my kind of book. It’s now on my list to buy at @mrbsemporium.bsky.social when I visit Bath in a couple of weeks.

This. It’s a gripping, shocking and fascinating read.
