The union's reportedly asking for 40%, which would not only make up for cost-of-living increases but also put us at the top of the industry again, on par w UPS drivers (also Teamsters) & many blue collar union manufacturing jobs. Here's their latest statement, & Costco CEO's insulting letter today:
A Teamsters bulletin that reads: "What's on the table from Costco? For months, your Costco Teamsters National Negotiating Committee has been working tirelessly to secure a fair contract that reflects Costco's record-breaking success. However, Costco has failed to bargain with us in good faith and has slow walked negotiations. Costco's current offer does not recognize our contributions to the company's record-breaking profits. Don't forget: Costco pulled in $7.4 billion in net profits last year—a 135% increase since 2018. But the company's current wage proposal for both the top and bottom scales amount to a <3% increase. We have the opportunity to achieve more in this contract by exercising our unity, solidarity, and collective action. More than 1.3 million Teamsters across the country are prepared to stand with us throughout this fight for better wages, benefits, and working conditions. Your national negotiating committee is committed to continue negotiating for the contract you deserve. Costco's current wage proposal Bottom scale: $0.50/hour in Year One Top of scale: $1/hour in Year One Retirement benefits: $0.00 increase This is your contract and your union. As Teamsters, let's continue the fight for the strongest possible contract at Costco." January 28, 2025 To Costco employees in locations covered by Costco's Employee Agreement: As many of you know, we update Costco's Employee Agreement every 3 years, and the new version will be effective in March 2025. In advance of the 2025 Agreement. I want to give you a few brief highlights of the upcoming changes. Each year we schedule increases to the top of the scale, and this is what we plan for the 2025 Employee Agreement: •Top-of-scale increases: -Add $1.00/hour in March 2025 (Clerks $31.90 Assistants $30.20) -Add $1.00/hour in March 2026 (Clerks $32.90 Assistants $31.20) -Add $1.00/hour in March 2027 (Clerks $33.90 Assistants $32.20) In addition, the 2025 Employee Agreement will include these changes: •Increase bottom-of-scale by 50¢ (Clerks $21.00 Assistants $20.00) •Increase the supervisor premium from $1.50 to $2.00 •An additional week of vacation after 30 years Of employment (6th week) •Vacation for new employees during their 1st year •Several additional changes & clarifications Following the $1.00/hour "unscheduled" wage increase in July 2024, the 3-year successive $1.00/hour top-of-scale increases are greater than we've done in any Employee Agreement. With these changes, we believe our hourly wages & benefits will continue to far outpace others in the retail industry. There's a plain & simple reason Costco chooses to offer industry-leading wages, broad & affordable healthcare benefits for full- & part-time employees, generous contributions to 401k accounts based on seniority, & competitive paid-time-off policies: we believe our employees are the very best in the retail industry. Very simply, you are the main reason for the great success of our company. There will be other communications, including from your GMs, leading up to the publication of the 2025 Employee Agreement. We're all in solidarity with the union locations bc if they get better wages & benefits, those will presumably be extended to all employees unless they want a mass-unionization effort across all locations. Also they're trying to use non-union workers as scabs
