I loved moderating the opening panel at the International Council of Psychologists Annual Conference in Rotterdam! We explored psychology’s role in migration, human rights, and social inclusion with esteemed psychologists from the Bahamas, UK, and US. Excited for the rest of the conference!

Did you know?

Albert Einstein, born on March 14, 1879, wasn’t just a genius—he was also a refugee.

His journey wasn’t just about revolutionising physics, but also about seeking safety and freedom.

Spring is coming!

I'm taking a short break from systematic review, to enjoy this lovely view from @zpid.bsky.social. Sunny, clear blue skies and below 10C.

Explains why I don't feel rested or rejuvenated from my holidays. 😅

Truly multicultural.

Chinese New Year decor at the India Gate Restaurant.

Only in Malaysia. 🎉

It's been years since you've been gone, but I’ll always find my way back to celebrate the New Year with you.

新年快乐,妈 💖

One thing I look forward to coming home for Chinese New Year...

Endless hours of mahjong with family — laughter, snacking on biscuits and the sound of tiles clicking. 🀄

May the wood snake year bring healthy, happiness and prosperity! 🐍

Just wrapped up an incredible weekend team building with the amazing management team at fugee.org!

Their dedication to providing quality education for refugees in Malaysia is truly inspiring. I'm grateful for the opportunity to support such passionate changemakers!

After 12 years of loyal service, I'm finally saying goodbye to my trusty 2013 mbp.

I'll be sending it off to recycling soon.

Will I live to see a day when laptops become sustainable and repairable?

I couldn’t find umeboshi for my onigiri, so I used Singlong’s Sour Plum instead.

Big mistake.

What I got? Mini rice sour bombs.

Lesson learned.

After months of refining my focus group guide and tackling ethics, I finally got the green light.🚦

Now, it's full speed ahead with recruitment!

Yesterday, I presented my study to #refugee teachers. The result? About a third signed up. Tough, but that's the #phdlife. 😅

Upwards and onwards! ☝️

I'm so happy the different ethnic groups of Myanmar celebrated New Years together. And to be invited to join the celebration is a privilege indeed. 🎉🥰

Back from the retreat!

I had the privilege of serving as a cook for the 10-day meditation course in Dhamma Malaya.

One of the highlights?

Using this massive "mixing" machine to whip up Malaysian-style fried mee hoon for 130 people. I even received some yummy reviews. 😋

The part about oat milk latte dependency and data cleaning vs writting is spot on. A little too much... ☕

My friends dropped me off at the airport. We hugged farewell.

We've known each other for over a decade. Saying goodbye gets harder with each passing year.

Life is a collection of memories - fill them with love, light, and laughter.✨

Till the next time, kapkunka #thailand. 🙏

In Phuket, we stopped by a food outlet for brunch and souvenirs. I had pad thai, prolly the last authentic one that I'll enjoy in a long while.

Day 6: Koh Yao Yai to Kuala Lumpur

We left for Chong Lard Pier in the morning to catch the morning speed boat.

It was cloudy with a gentle breeze, thankfully not raining.

My friends told me to stay silent, coz they bought a "local" ticket for me.

I'm super glad we decided to stay another day to chill at the villa.

A short short break from being on the road/sea.

Then I was reminded of the sign I saw at the Gypsy Bar the night before...

Life is like a road trip.
Enjoy each day
Don't carry too much baggage.

We dropped a couple of places for food. A local thai muslim restaurant for lunch and a dessert shop.

I had black glutinous rice, green beans, taro with coconut milk.

Day 5: Koh Yao Yai

We initially planned to return to Phuket. With my friend feeling unwell, and the gloomy weather, we decided to stay another day.

I worked on my paper the all day on the villa's porch with the stunning view of the sea.

As we waited for dinner at Gypsy Bar, we visited a buffalo family nearby. 15 buffalos altogether, one mother buffalo looked pregnant.

It was overcast almost all day. Thankfully, it didn't rain. So, we headed to Yao Yai Beach for an afternoon massage, a small hut next to the Gypsy Beach Bar.
