The notion that they aim to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse, while misusing their power to dismantle publications, datasets, and analyses, and disregarding bipartisan legislation funded by taxpayers for over 50 years, is itself wasteful and a fraud against the American people.
i find this notion that public spending is illegitimate bizarre as a matter of economics but totally legible as a statement of moral economy. and as per any strict system of morality, the punishment is part of the appeal. they are punishing the american people for believing in the public good.

Did you hear about the German citizens with valid documents who came to visit the U.S. but were detained by ICE? It's alarming—some even compare the U.S. to North Korea, maybe even worse.
Nothing screams “come visit” like “carry your registration or risk fine and/or detention.” Hard pass on the U.S. of A. Now right up there with North Korea as a vacation destination.
