it’s also wild to claim social norms do pressure people into supporting trans rights but don’t pressure girls into trad gender norms. this has basically nothing to do with this girl since it could just be some youtuber’s script, but like seriously which do they look around and see more celebrated?

A kid writing a poorly argued essay is one thing—I hope she grows and learns and changes and shit. I hope the professor is reinstated and apologized to. But grown legislators are going around asserting that Jesus H. Christ told them it’s brave to hurt people’s feelings and that‘a bleak as hell!

Obviously this is wrong. But it's also a wild peek into their psychology that this common talking point starts from the assumption that it’s bad and cowardly to care about other people’s well-being and how your behavior impacts them. And saying all that and THEN evoking a loving God is just silly!

I hear ostensibly more mature adults with conservative, deeply un-daring opinions talking like this all the time: claiming those who disagree with them are being cowed by a progressive norm of accommodation and they “don’t want to step on toes” rather than that they actually believe their beliefs
