For baseball those mistakes should mostly be made managing a minor league team, bench coaching etc, before being thrown in charge of a major league clubhouse and team. I’m sure there are some that are ready right away but when you compare the results from a Bochy or Francona to others it’s clear.

Same as how throwing your most technically competent IT guy into a manager role without any sort of support and without considering anything else isn’t likely to lead to good results. Managing is a skill and most of us are bad at it until we get experience, make mistakes, and learn from that’s.
