From my experience having said goodbye to several dogs and cats over the years, my (admittedly unscientific) observation is that cats grieve differently. Stopping mid-activity to gaze up at a corner of the room—always the same corner, needing more lap time, eating less for awhile. She misses Layla.

Truly saddened, Jonathan, for you and your daughter. It’s so hard to lose those we love. I hope it brings you hope to know that Layla will greet you someday just beyond the rainbow bridge and she (and you) will be healthy again. What a joyful reunion! Peace to you.

No, Meredith, we have NOT given up. You mention Hurricane Harvey & Houston in your posts, so you have at least some insight into what goes on here. We will never stop trying to effect change, even though it’s against impossible odds. So, please, don’t YOU give up on us.

This brings tears to my eyes. Stay the course, Matt. I can’t tell you that it will get better, but I can tell you that your being here touches other’s lives - perhaps in ways you will never know. Today you touched mine. Wishing you peace and hope.
