How was this never brought into legislation, though?

A hot war is one in which actual physical battles and skirmishes are taking place.

What's actually happening now is a relapse into a cold war.

Not that that's better, but to describe what's happening now as a "hot" war is to be ignorant of the syntax.

I wish when I read the word "Bondi" that I could go back to thinking of a trashy beach.

None of this would be a problem if we just taxed the rich.

People who complain of bureaucracy being bloated are people who don't understand how institutions work, and what holds them together.

No thanks. The centre isn't sensible, it's placative abdication of achieving change.

I want a more constructive democracy.

2. This was something he said 4 years after leaving office, July 1973, right before Watergate became public. Given the timing, it was probably more aimed at Spiro Agnew than Nixon.

There's nothing false about this statement, though it's worth noting two things:

1. JFK's economic policy was as much courting the Republicans so as to be indiscernible from being a Republican budget itself, and LBJ only made moderate changes when he took office. His just focus was civil rights.

The paper of record should have made more of a point of explaining who he really is for the last 9 years (and earlier, of course).

The craven way he's been portrayed has mollycoddled his image such that he was tolerable to many who wouldn't have thought so otherwise.

For shame.

Shoutout to @socialistdogmom.bsky.social for amazing coverage of such a disappointing weaponisation of (what I think are) well-intended shareholder regulations.

I, in fact, think these regulations are meant to exist for the opposite effect than they're being used for.

There's a really good encapsulation of why these despicable initiatives are being taken seriously here.

Tax cuts aren't necessary. Tax increases for billionaires would solve so much.
