Attorney. Syrian. Immigrant. Mama. Not in that order. 🌺
I spent 13 years of my life trying to explain Syria to people with preconceived notions and no actual knowledge of what was happening on the ground. I’m not doing it again.

The government is detaining a green card holder after a bad-faith online pressure campaign by a bunch of Zionist extremists. A *green card holder* — meaning he’s a lawful permanent resident.

This isn’t about ending “antisemitism.” It’s something else. www.dropsitenews.com/p/dhs-detain...

Again, the Secretary of State has no authority to “revoke” green cards.
UPDATE — Secretary of State Marco Rubio has now commented on the Trump admin’s detaining & attempted green card revocation of a Columbia Gaza encampment student negotiator:
“We will be revoking the visas and/or green cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can be deported.”
NEWS: Last night, the Department of Homeland Security detained a Palestinian who helped lead the Columbia encampment.

Agents told him his visa was revoked. He said he had a green card. They were confused—then said that was revoked too.

His attorney demanded a warrant. Agents hung up instead.

Austria says it will begin deporting Syrian refugees following the toppling of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Several other European governments, including Belgium, France, Greece, Germany and the United Kingdom, say they will pause asylum applications despite the power vacuum and instability in Syria.

GREAT NEWS 📣

We joined @asylumadvocacy.bsky.social calling for this extension.

Yes person on the internet Syrians are aware that everything isn’t perfect and that there are challenges ahead. I think they didn’t need you to tell them that given that it’s been 5 decades of tyranny and no country ever emerged from tyranny without challenges ahead.

Many doubted Syrians who shared stories of Assad’s horrific underworld, accounts so surreal they seemed unbelievable. Yet now, as the world recognises the truth of what Syrians have been pleading for years, there is a sense of vindication & satisfaction I struggle to describe.

This is what Assad & all the pro-Assadists were covering up for years, smearing us with their vicious lies, making out Assad to be sort of moral leader.

Watch as Syrians are now vindicated and freed from the dungeons of one of the most prolific mass murderers in modern history.

The Assad family’s 53-year strangulation of Syria ended today. Like many Syrians, I’m speechless - all I can keep thinking is that for the first time in 15 years, I’ll be going home.

My paternal grandfather's birthplace, #Hama, rose up against the Asaad regime in 1982 and again in 2011 (video below). Today, their chant ("The people want the downfall of the regime") was answered. If only for a day or a week - we don't know what will happen next, but today we celebrate.
