We then wrapped up with a discussion (led by me) of the overall principles, followed by some speculation on how social identification and sense of belonging might be conceptually related.

Our final empirical paper was from Sarah Walker, looking at trajectories of belonging over time, using a large institutional data set.

Our third and fourth speakers, Amy Fulton and Riom Pala, presented their shared honours research exploring the role of physical appearance congruence on the formation of student identity and sense of belonging, and the flow-on effects to wellbeing.

Ken Mavor then presented some work testing whether organisational identity (with the university) or discipline identity (with the field of study) was the better predictor of desirable outcomes

Our first speaker was Mila Knezovic, summarising some qualitative work that sought to understand what the label "student" really means to students and how they are constructing that identity
